About This Quote

For parents who are trying to cope with teenagers, this may be one of the most difficult questions they have to deal with. The truth is that it isn’t easy being a parent in this day and age. Just think about the number of things that go on in your child’s life when you are not around, whether that be staying out late or picking up after them. Parents are always worried that their little ones will grow up only to find themselves in trouble. With this in mind, it is no wonder that many teens are contacting their parents at 3am when they are out partying or having a good time.

Parents often feel the need to pick them up when they are in something less than a favorable situation. The truth is that it would be easier for teens to call their parents when they are in a good position. This is why I believe that it is much better for teens to call their parents when they are facing some sort of danger rather than when they are out partying and having fun. When someone calls at three in the morning and says “Dad, I am stuck on the side of the road!” what does a parent respond? A parent should be able to respond with some sort of calm and rational response rather than one that would panic them and stress them out. There may be times where calling your child during this time may seem like the best option, but I believe that it is better for teens to call their parents when they can simply get home and go back to bed instead of having to deal with an emergency situation.
